Uptown Harbor [GARVIS]

The northern district of Byzantium. These dim, maze-like streets are home to the less reputable markets and guilds of the city. Bounded on the north by the Harrow gate, and on the south by the Seer's Spire itself. Ruled over by Baron Darmier Garvis ap Balor.

Uptown Harbor [GARVIS]

The docks, warehouses, and various restaurants and taverns of Upper Byzantium are busy at all hours of the day, as chimera load and unload ships with goods from across the Dreaming and Pacifica. The naval flag of the Reeperbahn, a white flag with a purple X, flies across the harbor in the daytime, and fireflies appear in great number in the night; enough to see and work by. A ship may sail out through the dreaming, and the Silver Path is easy enough to find for a skilled navigator. The waters also connect to Half Moon Bay's, though Fae will find the transition awkward without a proper vessel.

The wharfmaster, Raymond, is an ex-captain of a chimerical trade vessel, and keeps records of every ship coming in or out, including their port of call, captain, and claimed cargo. It is a crime to lie about these things, but in practice investigations are rare, and require Baronial permission, so smuggling and deception are common. Raymond still keeps the logs though, and they have caught many fools.

Cheap lodgings and dining are dotted across the harbor, and make their coin chiefly from sailors, as well as some regular customers. Brothels are also a common sight, with much the same clientèle. Other than these businesses, there are two general stores, a ship repair and supply business, and an upscale inn and tavern reserved for captains and those whom they invite.
He remembers hall-warriors
and the giving of treasure.
How in youth his lord
accustomed him
to the feasting.
All the joy has died!

Construction has begun near the docks; anyone who stops and asks the chimerical foreman learns it has been ordered by the Baron, but not what it is.
